About PAGASA

PAGASA is a spiritual-cultural movement, a kilusang kultura, which hopes to involve individuals from all walks of life in the process of creating a better country. We are in PAGASA in our individual capacity and do not represent our institutions. But we advance PAGASA values and principles in our circle of influence and beyond.

We are diverse and celebrate our many different but convergent initiatives that are already renewing many aspects of our lives. We are learning to harness this diversity to pursue a common vision for our country and its contribution to the world. We value our diversity as a source of collective wisdom, power, responsibility, and hope.

We formed PAGASA for two reasons. First, we are deeply concerned by the growing lawlessness, corruption, moral drift, poverty, materialism, environmental destruction, mediocre and repressive governance and apathy in our country. Second we want to use our collective talents and force to create a better country, one of purpose, integrity, and positive achievements. We are prepared to engage in the daunting but doable task of creating a better Philippines.

Our source of hope is the innate goodness of Filipinos -- goodness we want to strengthen against the forces of corruption, moral decay and mediocrity. Thousands of Filipinos all over the country are accomplishing extraordinary things away from the spotlight of the media. They are the outstanding exception to the apathy that has increasingly paralyzed the country and has allowed the forces of corruption, egotism, and materialism to run wild. These individuals and groups still pursue the truth and act on the basis of their conscience. We need to create a living democracy to enable this innate goodness to come together and transform our country.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world;

  indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”     Margaret Mead
