PAGASA Youth
The People's Assembly for Genuine Alternatives to Social Apathy (PAGASA) is a spiritual-cultural movement, a kilusang kultura, that seeks to involve individuals from all walks of life in the process of creating a better Philippines. We believe that genuine transformation on a national level must be rooted upon profound inner change. A failed democracy can only be renewed by transforming it from the inside, in each of our hearts and minds, in order to advance creative, just, and compassionate alternatives to societal problems. This idea informs PAGASA's work, ranging from the Workshops of Hope, which explore the inner realms of the individual and their manifestations in society, to various fora, festivals, VisionCafes, and other cultural initiatives.
The Workshops of Hope have inspired various students and young professionals into bringing PAGASA's creative impulse into the group bearing most influence on the future of the Philippines: the youth sector. We, the PAGASA Youth, envision the rise of a new generation of conscious individuals participating in the world process. By this we mean our generation, and all generations to come. We hope to realize this vision by meeting three primary goals:
‣to create spaces for emergent dialogue where meaningful insights and initiatives are shared;
‣to develop and enhance innate capacities of young people through creative, artistic, collaborative work;
‣to inspire and empower young people towards sustained action.
